Since 2004, Will has carved out a niche as a holistic explorer and travel writer, writing features for newspapers and magazines, including The Independent, the Evening Standard, Tatler, Resurgence, The Ecologist and Yoga. He is also a qualified meditation teacher (BsOM) and is currently revising a book charting his rollercoaster odyssey across India, South East Asia and beyond (see Future Projects). In February 2012, Will founded Conscious Frontiers (www.consciousfrontiers.com) as a PR, communications and events agency giving voice to the growing movement of people working to propel a shift in consciousness. Conscious Frontiers events have included a 'new consciousness' festival programme, the Future Now spiritual ecology conference and a series of Hero's Journey workshops and retreats using Joseph Campbell's mythic map for storyteling as a platform for transformation From 2004-2011, Will worked as a communications consultant, promoting humanitarian and intercultural organisations like The Isbourne Foundation (holistic education charity, www.isbourne.org); IT Schools Africa (promotes IT education in Africa, www.itschoolsafrica.org); Tribe of Doris (transcultural arts organisation, www.tribeofdoris.co.uk) and the Makhad Trust (preserves nomadic communities worldwide,www.makhad.org). He also founded and developed a Guest Speaker Programme at the Isbourne Holistic Centre, bringing leading edge 'positive living' authors to Cheltenham for educational talks and workshops from January 2008-2012, including Byron Katie, Dr Masuru Emoto, Peter Owen Jones, Graham Hancock, Benedict Allen, Satish Kumar and Brandon Bays, among numerous other luminaries from the conscious evolution movement. Will’s interest in exploring the indigenous cultures and eco-spiritual ideas which now colour his writing and communications work, was initially seeded as a student of anthropology at university (1989-1992), where he completed a dissertation on shamanism. His work life however, began with a foray into the London music industry in 1993, where working as a record plugger at Beer Davis Publicity, he promoted bands like Pulp, Terrorvision, The Verve, John Lee Hooker and DJ Claude Challe, as well as various artists and albums for the Ministry of Sound label and Real World Records. He also undertook PR and media relations on behalf of the company’s burgeoning consumer accounts, like Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Renault, PG Tips, Flora and the Body Shop. Will’s journey to becoming a travel writer began in late 2000, when he took a year-long sabbatical from the London PR industry to research a novel in India and South East Asia, which was to include a colourful mix of maharajas, Bollywood, trance parties and spiritual search. The process of researching the novel, however, led him on an intense journey of self-exploration – which after a rocky, but ultimately transformative period of adjustment - was to sow the seeds for forging a more holistic and creative way of life. But first - returning to London from his sabbatical in early 2002, he briefly re-entered the PR rat race, ultimately working as an Account Director for Virgin Megastore at Borkowski PR before following his heart and moving to Gloucestershire to develop his writing and holistic interests. Since April 2016, he has been living in Glastonbury. |
